Friday Weekend Outdoorsman Tip

This Saturday I was due to celebrate my dad's 61st birthday.  But somebody at their house got sick and it's been canceled.  So I have a Saturday free at what is very much an in between time here in Michigan.  There really isn't a lot of safe ice for ice fishing so options might be rabbit hunting or river fishing and neither of those are in the cards.  Tomorrow will be all about prep time, preparing for the upcoming open water fishing season.  I have a fishing kayak that has been underused for the last few years because I have been concentrating on river fishing with a fly rod.  I busted out the spinning rod last summer though and couldn't put it down for the rest of the year and that enthusiasm in spilling over into 2016.

The first order of business tomorrow is to get the kayak down from its home in the garage and study the seat attachment.  I want a new seat plain and simple, the thing hurts my butt after a couple of hours of sitting on that hard plastic.  I want something with a high back and a seat cushion and I think I have found a universal fit at a good price.  I just need to confirm the attachment style.

The second order of business is to get the family together and take a trip to Dunhams Sports.  I really like Dunhams for my brick and mortar outdoor shopping.  I if you sign up for their e mail list they do a great job of mailing you deals throughout the year and one of those deals is often a 20% off regular price item coupon.  I'm in the market for a baitcast combo and want to take advantage of that coupon; I told you I was getting addicted to bass fishing.  I'll also be in the market for some line for my new rig and some plastic storage boxes.

I'll probably order my kayak seat through Amazon.  Here is the link for the Dunham's e-mail list sign up.
